Dress Code
Florida Sunshine State Scholars (SSS) has outlined attire for scholars and parents participating in events. Please note that appropriate scholar attire is expected as it reflects directly upon the nominating district.
Recruitment Fair/Scholar Dinner/Workshops/Activity Day – Smart Casual attire is requested and may include the following:
- Collared (polo style), button-down shirts, casual tops, or sweaters
- Casual dresses, jumpers or skirts
- Khaki pants, slacks, or denim jeans (no holes showing skin)
- Comfortable casual footwear such as tennis shoes, loafers, sandals, flats, etc.
*Workshop rooms may be a bit cool, light sweaters and jackets are recommended.
Awards Dinner - Dressy to semi-formal attire, but not full formal, is requested and may include the following:
Blazers, suits, ties, and dresses are strongly encouraged but not required.
Dresses
- Sleeveless, short-sleeved or longer
- Knee-length or longer
- No open back, cut-outs, body-con, high slits or form-fitting dresses
Shirts or Tops
- Collared (polo style), button-down (Oxfords) shirts
- Appropriate blouses, sweaters, and shrugs
- No t-shirts

Bottoms
- Khaki pants, dress slacks, suit pants
- Dress pants of different lengths that are part of a suit/ensemble
- Knee-length skirt or longer
- No jeans
Shoes
- Dress shoes, loafers, sandals, low heals or flats
- No flip-flops, tennis shoes, or extremely high heels
The following attire is considered inappropriate and unacceptable for any portion of the SSS event, and entry may be restricted.
- Clothing that is sexually suggestive or displays profanity, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
- Sheer, tight-fitting, spaghetti straps, strapless, extremely short or low-cut tops/dresses.
- Jeans distressed with holes, tears, or cuts in which skin is shown.
- Spandex, leggings, leotards, cutoffs, or pajamas.
- Clothing that is stained, torn, or ripped.
- Bare feet or bedroom-type shoes.
